When I sat down and started looking through my pictures and choosing what ones I wanted for today’s post, the majority were falling in the food category. I guess that’s just what I was snapping pics of last week! But I do like food photos and I do like random photos of things that catch my attention, so I suppose it’s not really that surprising. I find myself looking at things and framing them in my mind as a photo. Sometimes, if my camera is handy, I can get the shot and at other times I just can’t get it to “take” like I want. I’m sure someone with more experience would do a better job and a choice of camera lenses would make a difference too.
But it’s Hello Monday once again!!
Hello shredded potaotes! We’ve been eating potatoes a lot since we have some from our garden and from our neighbor’s. But that suits my farm family quite well. My husband and daughter could live on potatoes alone, I think. Although, my man does like his meat and my dearie girl likes fresh bread very-much-so. My son~well, at this point, he’s pretty much about meat. He is our meat-eater. He’s not so crazy about casseroles and soups, but he certainly likes meat. It’s interesting how my kiddos food likes and dislikes change over the years.
I canned some potatoes this week. First time I’ve ever canned potatoes, so we’ll see if we like having them on hand and what we use them for. I do enjoy canning and the potatoes were easy. My neighbor told me she washed the small potatoes she was going to can in her top loader washing machine. So I gave it a spin. {pun intended.} {groan} It worked really well. I like learning easy, new-to-me tricks!
I also canned some more tomato juice, thanks once again to my sister-in-law’s tomato plants! Then, this weekend I picked several tomatoes that have decided to turn red, off of our plants! I may end up with enough to process them into something.
Good Morning waffles! I hadn’t made waffles for awhile, so it was kind of fun to do them again.
Breakfast time…
Hello pretty cheese!
Hello farm! This was my view a lot this week. I enjoyed looking over and seeing the combine framed between the shed and the lean-to. My farmer worked on combine header and prep for cutting our circle of corn. He and Tucker took a sample, but at 20.5, it was too wet. Pretty likely that this week, even this Monday, will find us cutting corn!
Hello outside play and made-up games! They both had combined different pieces of equipment and came up with games. Tucker’s is called hamake. It is pronounced hamk. Ham with a k sound on the end. But it is spelled h-a-m-a-k-e. That was the spelling I was given and “it is just one of those words that you have to learn, since it doesn’t follow the English rules.”
We had wind at the beginning of the week, which made me instantly thankful for all the days this summer that haven’t been windy. That has been really, really nice! It was pretty hot until the end of the week and then it cooled off very nicely, so the kiddos had a lot of fun outside. I *think* we are getting rather back into school routine and I’ve been noticing how much earlier it is getting dark.
Hello Chewy M&M Blondies! We tried this new recipe and they are very seriously tasty! I pinned it to my Pinterest cookie board here.
Oh, and this post is so seriously adorable! It includes a darling little girl and her homemade stuffed monkey and homemade sleep mask for the monkey! I had to pin it to my “Kid Stuff” Pinterest board. Just too cute!
And this stool makeover is so fantastically cute! I might be a teenie bit proud since my niece is the artist behind the makeover! And if you’re needing encouragement because things don’t always go smoothly, this same post shares about bad days and the bumps we all hit!
Let’s see…a few other things..
We did some spraying…We did laundry and dishes and food-same ole, same ole, it’s pretty much ordinary life around here most of the time!…My Grandma’s birthday was this past week and she got to spend it in heaven this year! It’s been nine months since she’s been gone. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long and we miss having her here on earth. Here in good health. It was time for her to go home and we’re glad for that part…Renae told me if she ever had a herd of cows she would want red ones. She was looking at the front of a farm magazine and there was a very cute red calf pictured. It’s so interesting how we all have our preferences! I would definitely choose a herd of black cows, but I’ve probably been influenced by my husband. My brother-in-law’s cows that are in our pasture are black and I enjoy watching them when they circle by…We had a “Let’s Fight Stickers” campaign this week and pulled at least 130. They are definitely, definitely part of the curse!! Little by little we will make headway!! I am amazed at how quickly weeds and overgrowth can take over. So many lessons in this…I grudgingly and grumpily went on a parts run for my man. I really [selfishly} was not wanting to spend three hours on the road. But it was easy driving and I talked to my mother on the phone part of the time. I hadn’t talked to her in a little, so that was nice. And see? There’s always something good if we want to look for it and we can always choose our attitude. I know all these things, but quite often I don’t do them. I would’ve blessed my husband so much more if I would’ve chosen to be gracious. Which brings me to the highlight of my week…attending a Beth Moore simulcast. Her topic was grace and I came away inspired and renewed by God. Renae attended too; and we both enjoyed it so much. I just wanted to stay when it was over. There’s so much inspiration and I felt like, “I’m just going to go back out and into life and forget and mess up again!” And then I thought, “Here I am defeating the whole message before I’ve even left!” 🙂 Thank goodness for grace and God’s inspiration and renewal to keep on keeping on!
How was your week?

Isn’t that funny how yummy everything looks when you’re hungry!! 🙂 When you’re full, it might look good, but it’s just not quite the same. Same way grocery shopping!!

I wish I had all that food here! I did have supper all fixed for me by my teenager tonight as I finished slip covering a chair. She made mashed potatoes, hamburger gravy and corn. It was YUMMY. Her hamburger gravy is way better than mine.
